Across the globe, 500 million women and girls lack consistent and ongoing access to feminine hygiene products and sanitation facilities.

While it’s easy to categorize feminine hygiene insecurity as a third-world issue, the reality is that almost two-thirds of women in the U.S. with a low income could not afford menstrual products in the last year, while nearly half sometimes had to choose between buying food or menstrual products.

An estimated 200,000 women and girls here in Nashville struggle to financially afford and/or access feminine hygiene products.

On average, a woman will spend $6800 on feminine hygiene products  in her lifetime – that’s if she has the means to afford those products.
